In Rememberance of Bobby
I remember Bobby as an insightful, talented artist who'd share the wisdom
of his experiences with us younger green artists when we'd get together
and had discussions about art and life. He was someone from those days
I've always often thought about, He was that kind of guy that makes an
indelible impression on a young kid trying to figure things out. Thank you
for the web page and I look forward to hearing Bobby's voice again in his book.

I got to know him as a friend early the first year I transferred to SFAI from Arizona.
I felt immediate acceptance and connection, though being from very different backgrounds,
also Bobby being older and wiser. He was someone I looked up to as sort of a big brother.
Bobby was genuine through and through with such a generous spirit, and sense of humor.
We once worked a temporary short term (several days) job together at some fishing dock
where we were boxing fish packed with ground ice. He found out about the job and hooked
me up with it too.
As much as any other influence on my own work as an artist, his was immediate as I watched
how he worked. At that early time, I gravitated to the wall next to him where he was working
on a monumental painting on a large piece of photo backdrop paper. Using a tall foldout ladder
to reach the top portions, he would sit quietly in contemplation for awhile, paint brush in hand.
Then all of a sudden he would get up and scramble up the ladder to add a stroke, a touch of a color
here and there. Returning back down to the chair to contemplate it further.
